Dahshur plateau has many secrets and monuments, it’s a royal necropolis located in the desert on the Westbank of the Nile, 40 Km south of Cairo. There are five pyramids built during the Fourth Dynasty until the thirteenth Dynasty.
The first of the Dahshur pyramids was the Bent Pyramid (2613–2589 BCE), built under the rule of King Sneferu, then King Sneferu ordered the building of the second pyramid of Dahshur, the Red Pyramid which made of red limestone and its height 104 M.
After King Sneferu’s death, a third pyramid was erected by his son Khufu. Khufu wanting to build a legacy of his own utilized his father’s research to design and guide the building process of the third pyramid to completion (2589–2566 BCE). Once completed the pyramid was named The Great Pyramid of Giza, and it stands an astonishing 481 feet (147 meters) tall with an angle of 52 degrees.
King Senusret III (1878–1839 BCE) had his pyramid built within Dahshur. The difference between his pyramid in comparison to those surrounding it was that King Senusret III had tombs and galleries.
The Pyramid at Sakkara is one of the oldest stone structures in the world. It was built during the Third Dynasty (about 2630 BC) for King Djoser and its construction was overseen by his vizier Imhotep.
Saqqara served as the necropolis for the Ancient Egyptian capital, the oldest complete stone building complex known in history was built; Djoser’s step pyramid, built during the Third Dynasty.
One of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, The Three Pyramids of Giza, Three hierarchical groups of Khufu, Khafra and Menkaure were built on this plateau, when King Khufu (2551 BC), the founder of the Fourth Dynasty. Its largest pyramid is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
