The catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa is a historical archaeological site located in Alexandria and considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages, the clearest examples of the consolidation of Pharaonic art and Roman art in Alexandria.
Between the catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa and the tombs of the column, there is Pompey’s Pillar, it’s a Roman triumphal column in Alexandria. It is considered the highest memorial in the world, about 27 meters long and is made of red granite stone.
We will continue the journey of Roman civilization in Alexandria, by discovering Roman amphitheaters are large, circular or oval open-air venues with raised seating built by the ancient Romans, they were used for events such as gladiator combats.
Alexandria Library is the largest library in the ancient world. The library was had many fires and its life ended in 48 BC. In 2002 it was rebuilt under the name of the New Library of Alexandria. It has 10,000 original and rare books, it has four museums; Archaeological Museum, Manuscripts, and rare books museum, Sadat Museum and History of Science Museum.
The Citadel of Qaitbay it was constructed in the place of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, which was destroyed in the year 702 AH due to the earthquake, because of the many direct threats to Egypt by the Ottoman Empire.
